Currently….January 2018

I thought at the end of each month it would be interesting, and a bit of fun to see what all of my ‘Currently’ items and things were for the month. From what I’m reading to what lip color I’ve been wearing the most, below are my stats for January:

Reading:

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. This is a go to favorite of mine for whenever I want something that I can really get into, but is also easy to pull myself out of. This month has been super busy for me – between work, a budget/finance class, social events, and family I’ve been stretched pretty thin on top of trying to maintain this new blog. But I like to try and read at least one book a month – regardless of if it’s an old favorite or a new one.

Watching:

This month has just seemed like a rut as far as interesting tv shows for me. I only have a Netflix subscription, so I’ve been missing out on some of the newer shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. To help make this tv rut feel a little less dull, I’ve been going back to my standby – Gilmore Girls – as well as watching a bit of Cable Girls when I have the time to really pay attention. Though I’m not a big fan of subs, so it’s been a bit difficult to get into.

Lip color:

This month has been a lot of Kylie Cosmetics Candy K lip liner, with a bit of the Heir Liquid Metal Matte Lipstick as a ‘highlighter’ on days I want a little extra something. It’s been a super quick, easy combo for my busy first month of 2018.

Wearing:

Outside of work, where I’m pretty much stuck in black ballet flats, I’ve been going back to my beat up, old black converse a lot lately. They are warmer than the flats, but still more comfortable than pulling out my huge faux fur lined winter boots that I try to use as little as humanly possible  – lacing them up just takes too long for my liking.

Eyeshadow:

I’ve been giving at least one of my Too Faced palettes a work out since I got it at Christmas – thanks mom! The Super Fun Night palette has been an easy go-to for me for this month, easily going with whatever I’m wearing, and appropriate colors for work. I’ve been doing a combo of the colors Cozy Cashmere (brow bone), Sleighhh Girl (lid), and Oh What Fun (crease). With Dashing Through The Glow being used for both an overall highlighter, as well as on my inner corner.

Listening:

This month I’ve been a bit all over the place with my music. From Havana by Camila Cabello and Halsey/G-Eazy’s new collab Him and I, to some old school Green Day and newer Motionless in White, as well as some of the Wicked Broadway Soundtrack and The Greatest Showman Movie Soundtrack. I’ve also started listening to the Becoming Fearless podcast by Style Collective founder Annie Spano on my car rides to and from work.

Working On:

Mainly this month has been all about setting up and learning to love my bullet journal. I’ve had a different system using several planners the last few years (a vertical Erin Condren with a personal sized Kikki K and monthly inserts), but my budget just won’t let me do that this year. I already owned most everything to create a bujo outside of the actual journal itself, so this year I’ve switched over to it. Other than trying to get into a rhythm of drawing my weekly layout, I’ve found its actually been fun to be able to pick and choose exactly what I want to be in my planner. Maybe some day soon I’ll have a flip through of things so far for the year.

What are your currentlys for the month of January? Any other stats you’d like to see from me each month? Mention them down below!

    1. The one she did with Sinful Colors? Yes! At one point I’d been gifted almost all the collections, but I gave most of them away and just kept a few that I know I’ll use. My one issue is that the matte ones with glitter always look a little weird unless I use a shiny top coat on them to make them look less matte.

    1. Converse used to pretty much be the only thing I owned outside of a few pairs of heels I had for special occasions. I’ve definitely grown up a bit and expanded to other types of flat wear as well, but I don’t think I’ll ever be without at LEAST one pair of Converse low tops!

    1. YES! As a teen my grandma would let me order two custom pairs from Converse’s website every year for Christmas. Until about a year ago when they all finally were getting too beat up to wear anymore, I had quite the collection. haha

    1. Thanks! I’ve seen others do monthly wrap-up posts, and thought this would be a great way to let others see just what exactly I’m into at the moment. Hauls, reviews, ect. are nice, but it doesn’t really show anyone what we actually wear/use/are into on a daily basis you know? Thanks for commenting, I love your blog. 🙂

    1. I just moved the end of last year, and I totally know what you mean. I’m still finding odd and end things to try and find a new home for in my current apartment…and I may be moving again in just a few months!

  1. This was motivational for setting some goals for me time! I did get some new makeup, I havent worn yet. And I have added some extra books to my reading. But this made me realize I need to be adding some movies and music to my list too.

  2. That’s a pretty thorough list of the things going on in your life. I don’t know that I would have anything to add. January has been so crazy for me I would say working, blogging and spending time with my daughter. Not much time for much else.
